The Importance of Bandages

The bandages They are a portion of fabric, which can vary depending on the material with which it is made. The extension of each bandage is different, depending on the brand. However, measurements on the market are between approximately 3 and 5 meters, being available at Buddha Fight Wear in 2.5 and 4.5 Meters. The choice will depend on each person and the comfort they feel with a specific measure.

People commonly believe that the only protection for their hands is gloves, however, the reality is different.

The bandages They are placed under the gloves. They are not used for the purpose of cushioning blows or padding the knuckles, as this is the job of gloves. The function of the bandage is to secure and fix the ligaments of the fingers and wrist. In the hands there are numerous bone connections that need to be fixed to avoid fractures. By properly bandaging the hands it helps to distribute the impact of the blow towards the wrist, at the same time, the wrist must also be well bandaged so as not to suffer any injury.

Although the bandage is mainly used to prevent injuries to the knuckles, sprains of the fingers or wrists, they also work to absorb sweat, keeping the inside of the gloves cleaner, helping to reduce the accumulation of bacteria and preventing bad odors. Likewise, they protect the knuckles from rubbing against the material of the gloves with each blow.

General Information about Bandages

It is essential to know how to put on the bandage for complete protection. To do this, it is important to dedicate the necessary time before starting the training routine or before the fight. The bandage on the hand should be firm and feel good when the hand is relaxed and become hard when the fist is made. If after half an hour your hands start to hurt, or your fingers change color, it means that the bandage is too tight.

On the market there are different types of bandages. These bandages vary between cotton, semi-elastic, gel and elastic.

Bandages made of cotton are the most popular , due to their resistance, adaptability, ease of washing and because they allow proper breathability. It is recommended that someone else help place this type of bandage, due to its rigidity, to achieve a better adaptation to the hands and wrists.

The bandages Semi-elastic , or better known as Mexican bandages, are similar to cotton bandages, but are characterized by their fabric of elastic fibers, which allows them to adapt to the hand and wrist easily. This type of bandage is not as durable as cotton ones, because the elastic wears out with use.

On the other hand, the gel bandages They are made with elastic fabrics that offer firmness and fit the hand as if it were a glove. They are characterized by their quick placement and the cushioning that the gel provides to the knuckles and back of the hand. This glove-type wrap is not allowed during combat, however, it is ideal for training.

Finally, elastic bandages are new generation bandages. These are made of synthetic fabrics, are easy to place and offer a correctly fixed bandage. This type of bandage usually deteriorates faster. This is due to constant use, since it stretches and does not have the same grip again.

The quality of bandages varies depending on the brand. Buddha Fight Wear is a brand that specializes in the distribution of protective equipment, clothing and accessories focused on contact sports . Through its website it offers semi-elastic bandages High quality, with embroidered labels and different colors.
